Senior Restructuring Expert (remote input for Namibia)

Business & Finance Consulting (www.bfconsulting.com), a Swiss-based leading development finance consulting company with a track record in over 80 countries, invites applications for a Senior Restructuring Expert. This position is part of a tender process for a KfW-financed project in Namibia.

Start Date: tentative start in Q4 2025
Duration: part-time role over 3 years
Duty station: remote (home-based) with several business trips to Namibia
Who we are looking for (Profile):
Graduate (Master or Diploma) in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Banking, Business Administration, or other relevant discipline
Minimum 15 years of experience in public business rescue, rehabilitation and turnarounds especially relating to municipalities, and other state-owned and or managed entities. This includes experience in credit/loan restructuring at the level of a bank-borrower relationship, as well as experience in business/finance operations restructuring at the level of the borrower
Familiarity with relevant business legislative framework, i.e. Basel 11 GAAP, IFRIS, Companies ACT etc. and legislative framework pertaining to the public sector i.e. local government, state-owned entities etc.
Expert knowledge of credit risk and financial management principles and methodologies to lead public sector business rescue assignments
Ability to use technical and business understanding to assist with the rehabilitation of non-performing loans
Knowledge of the legal process associated with workouts, business rescue and liquidation
Job Responsibilities:
Support a local bank in Namibia to restructure lending operations / lending conditions with portfolio clients, including private clients (medium / large corporations), public clients (state-owned enterprises, municipalities), and PPP projects (public-private partnerships)
Manage complex, high value non-performing private sector/commercial loans by reviewing and assessing turnaround/workout alternatives and solutions
Provide bank-wide advice on turnaround issues
Provide inputs on the design and implementation of turnaround/recovery management solutions
Establish, communicate and facilitate the use of appropriate turnaround and risk methodologies, tools and techniques for distressed and non performing clients
Maximize loan recoveries to the bank within a reasonably fast period
Train bank staff on loan restructuring / recovery / turnaround issues
Collaborate with other project team members on related project activities
