Web Developer

Background
BFC is a consulting company focused on supporting financial institutions in developing countries in CIS, Balkans, South & South-East Asia, and Africa regions. Till now mainly specialized in Agro and MSME finance, BFC has recently started expanding its scope of work to FinTech, trying to add a technology component to its services. This led BFC to start a few small technology projects in parallel to its more traditional consulting activities.
Among others BFC leads projects such as:
— Data Portal Development
— Warehouse Data Portal
— E-commerce
— Mobile applications for data collection
 
In this context BFC is looking for a Web Developer to help upgrade and further expand its toolbox.
Input: full-time; freelance is also possible.
 
Main Responsibilities:
The key tasks of the Developer will consist in supporting the development and the maintenance of BFC’s loan origination system (designed in-house). This tool is currently used by a few partner banks which are continuously asking for new functionalities and which require strong technical support. The Developer may as well get involved in other BFC projects on which development skills would be required.
 
Job Requirements:
  • PHP (Java or Python is a plus)
  • Relational databases
  • Javascript, jQuery framework
  • Version control systems (Git, Mercurial)
  • Experience in technical management of complex technological project
  • Experience in building and maintaining API for technology platform
  • Experience in projects related to finance is a plus
  • Fluent English and Russian
This position may require on-site visits in the countries of BFC operations for workshops and team meetings. For now these countries are Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Armenia and Serbia. Other opportunities may arise in other countries of CIS region, Balkans, and Africa.
 
The Developer would work under the supervision of BFC Head of IT.
